YinYarr - Pirates vs Ninjas

Well, the first Yin Yarr league has begun!

The first map that has graced this league of drunk pirates and sneaky ninjas, was the newest stock map created by Valve, Goldrush. A map that has been played like mad since it was released; Goldrush promised intense firefights and demanded strategic effort by both offense and defense to secure the booty..or hold of a team from securing the booty. The first week saw two teams steal the gold with easy as the other two teams put up valiant fights, but in the end were overwelmed.

I'm also sorry for how long this is, but Goldrush is a huge map!

Match 1: Naughty Bits Inc. Vs The Jungle Penguins

Stage 1 - NBInc

The first match pitted the penis...I mean, Naughty Bits Inc.{NBInc} crew against the maniacal Jungle Penguins /^>^\ of Brazil (I guess Brazil anyway). NBI was set to attack first and right out of the gate they showed those nasty penguins they meant business. With Crash leading the way as Heavy, with his trusty Medic g00f behind him, Crash mowed over the enemy to clear the way for the rest of his team. After the initial rush by NBInc, the Jungle Penguins put up a last ditch effort to hold them off the first CP, but to no avail. After the first point was taken, the penguins just couldn't seem to put up a tight defense for long. Thanks to Ryu's backstabbin/sapping abilities, the penguin's engineer couldn't seem to keep a sentry up for too long. Not to mention the constant sticky bomb spraying by Chilly keeping the other enemies on their toes. After a couple minutes of back and forth fighting, NBInc eventually pressed the cart onward and moved on to the next stage.

Stage 2 - NBInc

The 2nd stage appeared to be more of the same. The penguins managed to hold of NBInc for a while at the gates, but after half of their team died NBInc could push forward and they never looked back. The first CP was taken a few minutes later with Crash still plowing through the enemy lines, proof that the Heavy is not somebody to be take lightly. The last part of the 2nd stage seemed to mimic the first, with the penguins unable to get a tight defense going for too long. They never stopped the fight though, thanks to some crazy jumping and shooting by the wacky ninja Scout CAJOS, NBInc couldn't sit still for too long.

Stage 3 - NBInc

The final stage of Goldrush, most certainly the hardest to take, took a little bit more effort by NBInc to eventually secure it. Thanks to his offensive Engineering skills, Unison allowed his team to consistantly keep the pressure on. Once they passed the first and second CPs though, NBInc hit that brick wall known as that last stretch. The penguins were able to destroy Unison's buildings a few times, causing NBInc to have to make that long run back to the front, buying the penguins valuable time. However, even through all the time they bought NBInc was still able to keep consistance pressure and not allow the penguins to keep a sentry up for too long, thanks again to Ryu's Spy work. After a few more minutes and an uber or two, NBInc eventually pushed forward and all jumped into the exploding silo of explosives, signaling their victory on offense.

Stage 1 - Jungle Penguins

Now it was the Penguins turn at offense. Thing got bad right out of the gate as Ryu sniped the penguins Heavy, LOOY, who was about to get an uber causing Gregor, their Medic, to rethink what he would do with it. After LOOY respawned, he got his uber and pushed NBInc back beyond the first set of cliffs and back towards the far building. However...after the uber was done, he was once again sniped by Ryu. But the penguins took this opportunity to push forward and move the cart. After a minute or two of fire fights, they got past the first CP and were marching onward. This is where they hit a brick wall in defense however. Thanks to Chilly's constant sticky nade/pipe bomb spam, Ryu's sniping, Crash's Heavy spraying, and [plat]Yontouryu's Soldier rockets. The penguins just couldn't seem to push forward for a while, but they did eventually almost cap the cart, they were a mere 10 feet away, but time ran out.

Final Score - NBInc 7 / Jungle Penguins 1

Match 2 - LHCB Vs Unless It's a Farm!

Stage 1 - [i = frm] Unless It's a Farm!

The first stage was not so kind to [i = frm] as they only had 4 of their team members show up. But LOOY, CAJOS, and Chilly filled in for them and they had 7 to fight LHCB's full roster of 9. Chilly was set to be sniper (*gasp!) and he actually didn't too that bad. After the start [i = frm] pushed forward and got the cart part of the way up the hill to the first CP, but this is where it stopped. LHCB put up an outstanding defense and didn't allow [i = frm] to move the cart hardly at all. Every time [i = frm] got close to the cart they would get swarmed by LHCB members. At the closing seconds it appeard [i = frm] would get more time as almost their whole team was on the cart, but a crit rocket by Chavelo took out 3 of them, thus killing the rush and ending [i= frm]'s offense. Oh and a special shout out to LOOY for getting telefragged, twas awesome.

Stage 1 - LHCB

Basically LHCB's offense was as good as their defense. After the gates opened and the ubers went off, it was already one sided. Thanks to Sir Jackson's Spy work, [i = frm] couldn't keep a sentry up for too long..or keep their backs in tact for that matter. LHCB took the first stage without hardly breaking a sweat. This didn't mean that [i = frm] quit though, they continued to put up valiant efforts on defense throughout the rest of Stage 1 and in Stage 2 towards the end.

Stage 2 - LHCB

LHCB didn't let up on Stage 2 either, they pushed forward and capped the first CP in the matter of a minute or two and it appeared they'd cap the 2nd CP just as easily. But with mere inches to go [i = frm] put up a great last ditch defensive effort with...Scout blocking! After the cart got to inches to go, [i = frm] almost managed to get the cart back far enough to concentrate on their defenses more, but with one final push by LHCB, the 2nd Stage was over.

Stage 3 - LHCB

If you take what I've said about Stage 1 and Stage 2 into account, you know how Stage 3 ends. LHCB continued their Blitzkrieg like tactics and mowed over [i = frm] to push paste the first 2 CPs. Even the final CP which usually takes a while to cap, or it doesn't at all, was taken by LHCB in the matter of a few minutes. Great teamwork led LHCB to victory in all 3 rounds, the 2 person advantage kinda helped too, but still great teamwork is what counts in league matches.

Final Score - LHCB 7 / Unless It's a Farm! 0
